Street-legal reproduction off pedal vehicle highlight of Harding car series

A visitor to the Corpus Christi/Holy Redeemer vehicle program checks out George Muker’s 1956 Buick Roadmaster. Sam Marranca, of West Pittston, brought his 1947 0range Ford Roadster to the Corpus Christi/Holy Redeemer vehicle program. Mark Blasko, of Hughestown, brought his 1923 Ford Design T to the fifth annual Corpus Christi/Holy Redeemer car series Dan Hryhorcoff, of Scott Area, built this replica a Murray General Jet and Circulation pedal car. The car took 2 and a half years to create and is street legal. It was on display Sunday at the 5th yearly Corpus Christi/Holy Redeemer automobile series in Harding. HARDING — — The 5th yearly Corpus Christi/Holy Redeemer car program on Sunday had all the typical deals with for automobile connoisseurs. Ford Mustangs, Model Ts, a traditional Chevy Chevelle, 2016’s most recent models — — all of them were on display. But as the crowd made its way through the rows of cars, an unusual sight emerged. At the end of one specific row sat Dan Hryhorcoff in a lawn chair, eating an ice cream cone and speaking with visitors at the show. Beside Hryhorcoff was his pride and happiness, a totally practical and street-legal reproduction of a 1940s Murray General Jet and Circulation pedal vehicle. It’s about four-and-a-half times bigger than the original children’s toy, among which sat next to it. Hryhorcoff, a mechanical engineer, stated he wanted to try out fiberglass and developed the idea to recreate the Murray. “I knew I wished to develop something, however I didn’t understand exactly what,” he said. “I knew I wanted to find out more about fiberglass, so I decided to attempt and construct this.” In all, he stated the task took about 2 and a half years to complete. Many of the engine parts for his dream device originated from a 1997 Ford Ranger. When it comes to the remainder of the series, the pet days of summer did not keep Sunday’s crowd or exhibitors down.
