Brad Pitt gets engines, hearts revving at Le Mans

(Picture: EDDY LEMAISTRE, EPA) If you want to see some stars this weekend– and do not mind loud engine sounds and sitting in bleachers all night– Le Mans is the place to be. The 24-hour road race hired none besides Brad Pitt to wave the start flag on Saturday, ushering the cars off on their first of lots of, lots of laps of France’s renowned Circuit de la Sarthe. Teams of 3 take turns driving and sleeping for a full day. And Pitt’s not the only star in the area: Patrick Dempsey, quickly to be seen in Bridget Jones’ Child, is back in LeMans as an ambassador after bringing an extraordinary level of American interest to the race with his team’s second-place finish last year. (Photo: Marc Piasecki, WireImage) Keanu Reeves, whose motorized enthusiasms run more towards the 2-wheeled range, has been found at the track today repping his Arch Motorcycle line. “With a vehicle, it’s extremely clear cut,” stated the actor, who admits he feels more comfy on the track than the stage. “Hollywood is not specific. Hollywood does not make any sense. Why something’s successful, you do not know. But when you do well at the track, there’s nothing more satisfying than that. You know what it’s taken. You’ve suffered immensely through the course of a race. You’ve worked it out psychologically … It’s an extremely spiritual experience.”
